Then came 2009 - suddenly new competitors were popping up monthly preparing for the Baby Boomer Boom. 

Every networking meeting brought another "Hi, I'm ___ from XYZ homecare company!"

It could have been terrifying. 

But instead of obsessing over competition, we stayed laser-focused on our mission: providing exceptional care to seniors who wanted to remain independent at home.

While others tried to sell against us saying things like "hire us because we're not a franchise" or "we're smaller and more family-oriented," we simply: 

• Listened deeply to our clients' needs
• Elevated our already high hiring standards
• Refined our systems for 24/7 quality care
• Served our community with excellence

The result? 

While many competitors struggled or closed their doors, my franchise office became: 

✅#1 in our territory 

✅Top 10% nationwide as part of the #1 home care provider globally 

✅Generated over $17M in revenue serving just 1,000 of the 52,000 seniors in our area

The lesson? 

You don't need to serve everyone or worry about what others are doing. 

You just need to focus on serving your ideal clients exceptionally well.

In 2025, it is pretty much a requirement to have a mission statement in your business. Your mission statement should communicate the purpose of the organization! Why you are in business!  It can be a single statement or short paragraph, but it should always be easy to remember!
