Let me share a little story that might resonate with you.

In 2010, I found myself in the same hustle many of you are experiencing. Endless hours, burning the midnight oil, and feeling the weight of business ownership on my shoulders. So in 2012, I made a pivotal decision. I started meeting with two other franchise owners for strategic quarterly planning sessions. These sessions weren't just about setting goals; they were about collaboration, planning, and evaluating our top priorities for the next 90 days.

These quarterly meetings became one of the cornerstones of my success. They transformed my approach to business and allowed me to accomplish more in 90 days than most entrepreneurs do in a year—without burning out or sacrificing what's important. The impact was profound, and it led me to where I am today,  teaching a 'Planning for Profit Workshop' designed exclusively for women entrepreneurs like yourself. Now, I'm here to share these transformative elements of strategic planning with you. Because you deserve to build a business that not only survives but thrives, all while maintaining your sanity and reclaiming precious time for what matters most.

Here are the 5 elements to success:

1. Setting Clear Objectives: 

First up, setting clear objectives is the foundation of any successful strategic plan. Start by defining your business goals for the next quarter! Now I know some entrepreneurs thrive on setting SMART goals, but I have also seen so many women get stuck in making them SMART and never finish them! Goal setting does not have to be complicated, it just needs to be clear and aligned with your vision! This clarity will be your North Star throughout the planning process.

2. Collaborative Planning:

Strategic planning is not a solo mission. It thrives on collaboration. Whether it's with a mentor, a mastermind group, or trusted colleagues, surround yourself with like-minded individuals who can offer fresh perspectives and invaluable insights. Two heads—or more—are always better than one. This is why I offer my Planning for Profit Workshop Virtually, so no matter where you are, you can tune in and collaborate with other women in business!

3. Prioritization and Focus:

With limited time and resources, prioritization becomes key. Identify your top priorities for the upcoming quarter. What will move the needle the most? Focus your energy and resources on these priorities to ensure meaningful progress. In order to determine your priorities, it helps to divide your last 90 days into 3 categories: 1) Things that went well that you want to double down on. 2) Things that have potential to do well that need some tweaking before trying again. And 3) Things that did not perform as expected and you want to ditch altogether!  When you do this practice before your strategic planning session, you will be able to prioritize easily!

4. Regular Evaluation & Adaptation:

A strategic plan is not set in stone. Regularly evaluate your progress and be willing to adapt. This flexibility ensures that you stay on course, even when unexpected challenges arise. It's about progress, not perfection. The reason I like to work in 90 days increments is for 3 reasons: 1) It is long enough to test something new and get results. 2) It is long enough that if you need to pivot mid-way you have the runway to make the change and still see results. And 3) It's not so long that if the task or project fails, you feel like you wasted a lot of time.

5. Sustainable Systems:

Lastly, to crush your quarterly goals for long term success, you need systems that support you without causing burnout. Implement efficient workflows, delegate tasks, and automate processes where possible. A well-oiled machine allows you to work smarter, not harder.
